When candidate Trump campaigned across the United States more than 10 years ago, both in rural areas and large cities, everyone laughed. Everyone. They called him a clown. He had no chance!
Except that, faced with the growing number of fans swelling his ranks month after month, a small minority of commentators began to worry. There were so few of them in France. I remember one journalist from France Info in particular who had a perceptive analysis of the threat. He said that we would be very wrong not to take this threat (Trump) seriously.
And then, four rather chaotic years of his term passed, without much effect but with a lot of political amateurism that made the US a spectator of its own era.
After a Democratic term that failed to take the measure of societal changes, the ogre returned, several thousand fake news stories later, even stronger, and this time as an actor of his time.
And this time, they are pros at democratic salami tactics. These are particularly determined men and women, falotiers, ready to permanently extinguish the projects inherited from a Europe that has, on several occasions, made all hopes possible, but which they now consider obsolete.
Above all, they are defending their business interests and do not want Europe to become too strong.
A focus on Europe, and France in particular
But friends, let's step back from the epicenter for a moment and note that the same thing has been happening in France (sorry to our English or American friends) for 10 years, albeit on a smaller scale. Impoverished discourse, millionaire ministers, lies during parliamentary hearings, amateurism in the conduct of the country's affairs (the 80 km/h speed limit, for example). And the permanence of oligophrenics in the tribunes: Bardella, Retailleau, Ciotti, Dati...
Small people, people without stature or vision, who rise to positions of responsibility. People of few words but sufficient means, swindlers of speech and common thought.
We are therefore in for a dark period. The heralds of black light are also arriving in the land of lights.
