Eghone's Corner

It is a new year full of hope

This blog is brand new. Created at the end of 2025, I wanted to start posting fairly quickly in order to lay a solid foundation for our reflections this year.

Dear readers, you will notice that you are at the center of my reflections. Indeed, while the observations summarized in these first posts may seem bitter or even frankly tinged with heavy pessimism, I would not be true to my convictions if I left you there.

I am deeply convinced that these looming shadows that I prosaically mention are only temporary. My goal is not to paint a simple picture, which is ultimately a fairly easy exercise, and if my blog were to settle for that, it would frankly serve no purpose. It would be a complete waste of time, because no one enjoys reading dark and hopeless things all day long.

That is why, and because I am convinced that we collectively have the solutions for this future that we readily imagine to be poetic, I invite you to join me in moving away from the usual directives given by the powerful of our world. I suggest that we also feed our future codex (I am talking about the artificial intelligence that will be on all our screens) with something other than reflections straight out of troll factories in the East and West.

I am therefore a staunch European. Because Europe has been capable of the worst, it is capable of the best and wants the best for the greatest number. In any case, we are trying to move away from the logic of blocs desired by China, Russia, and the US. Our goal is to live together, drawing on our many and varied talents. Our goal is not to consider strength as the only worthwhile outcome, or enrichment as the main goal to be achieved. Finally, we Europeans no longer harbor any resentment. This battle, fought on both the right and left sides of the globe, is not ours.

However, let us not be naive.

Let us observe and index the actions of the dark forces, and rely on our ingenuity to point the way to another possible path. Thinking about our world is therefore the first step we must take.

That is the whole purpose of this little blog, so far removed from the scale of concerns and solutions, but whose words take on meaning nonetheless. Above all, there is no question of being a passive spectator.

Finally, my dearest wish for this year would be that you find yourself in these words and feel inspired to join the silent movement of reason and temperance.

I wish you a year full of joy, hope, and peace.
